History

The company comes from the ideas and the willpower of two car electricians. The capability to create innovative products revealed itself immediately, and this feature will allow the company to develop in years to come. Actually, thanks to the design and the production of the precursors of modern relays, called TLC (remote light change) and TLR/R (relay with delay), it will be possible to replace the mechanical cable used till then to switch lights from lower-beam to high-beam, with more precise an functional electrical control.

The initial idea was complete with the production of the first UNI column switch on the steering wheel (Teleomnia) now on all vehicles.

The new road transport regulations become effective: it defines, with retroactive effect, the rear lighting features of all moving vehicles. The company, again in advance of the time, develops a lamp for truck with the required features, achieving such a great success on the market that the production reached 1200 pieces per day.

After years of tumultuous growth it was necessary to have a corporate and control structure suitable for the new dimensions and the future programs. The company became a Corporation, with the entrance of a new shareholders and new Management. The strategy is to supply the four target markets with the largest range of products possible, integrated inside a complete system.

The first company integration agreement was drawn up with MT (Reggio Emilia). This branch will be specialized in design and production of seats, steering wheels and complete steering columns. In this way began a program that will allow the Group to get the dimensions, the commercial and the technical structures, the production and logistic capabilities to compete on the world market, through the creation and integration of companies with competence tuned with the corporate Core Business, offering a range of products more and more wide and differentiated.

Following the strategy of enlargement of his product range, COBO SUD (Chieti) is founded with the mission of designing and producing wiring harnesses.

Constitution of F.C. Electronic (Ghedi – BS) – Outside assembly units to increase flexibility containing costs.
The same year see the constitution also of the company DUE EMME (Leno – BS) – with the task of designing and producing moulds.

Acquisition of ELTEC (Flero – BS) – first unit of design and production of electronic components.

Constitution of UNIDECK (Reggio Emilia) with the task of design and production of instruments and clusters.

Acquisition of IMEAR (Bagnolo Mella - BS), a company for the design and production of electrical/electronic components/wiring for defense vehicles.

Acquisition of CIE (Bologna) - Wiring production

Corporate integration agreement with CIAM (Reggio Emilia), specialized in design, realization of the electrical diagram, lay out study, component choice and production of "COMPLETE SYSTEMS" for earth moving machines.

Acquisition of PUGLIA CABLAGGI (Brindisi) - Wiring production.

Constitution of COBO INTERNATIONAL subsidiary (IA-USA) - Branch organized for design, production and distribution of the products made by the group on the north American market.
Acquisition of B.C. (Reggio Emilia) – Plastic molding and steering wheels.

Acquisition of META (Reggio Emilia) - Design and production of metal steering columns.

Start-up of new commercial office in China.
CIEE – Cobo International East Europe – business unit foundation (Brasov-Romania).
Closure of ELTEC establishment and integration of the designing and production process of electronic components in the main plant.

Acquisition of 3B6 (Novara) – Company specialized in safety and global control systems for earthmoving and lifting vehicles.
